Dr. Hoekstra joined the College of Education at 51СʪÃà in 2012.Ìý She had 16 years’ experience teaching in Christian schools in Michigan and California before receiving her Ed.D. in teaching and learning from Azusa Pacific University.Ìý Her special interests include designing curriculum and instruction with a biblical worldview, promoting inquiry-based and outdoor education, developing resilience, and nurturing spiritual growth.Ìý Dr. Hoekstra desires to prepare teachers with a biblical worldview who, by God’s grace, can then inspire and encourage their own students.

Dr. Hoekstra was born and raised on her family’s farm in Illinois. After marrying her childhood sweetheart, Jack, she worked with young people teaching music and as a volunteer at church and the local Christian school before entering college to prepare for a teaching career. When Lynn is not teaching, she enjoys reading, biking, and taking long walks with Jack and their dog, Teddy.Ìý
