David joined the Columbia International University faculty in 2025. Previously, he served 34 years in the South Carolina Army National Guard. He retired in 2021 as an active-duty Colonel. In his last assignment, he served as the J3 and Director of Military Support for five years where he was responsible for developing and implementing joint contingency plans for domestic emergencies, civil disturbances, natural disasters, and contingency operations and was responsible for the oversight of aforementioned operations. He taught the United States Northern Command’s Dual Status Commander Course and the Joint Task Force Commander Training Course at Peterson Air Force Base, CO and Fort Carson, CO. He also taught the Domestic Operations Officer Orientation Course at the National Guard Bureau in Arlington, VA.
After retiring, David joined Interagency Readiness Solutions-LLC in a part-time capacity. He serves as a Program Manager for three federal government contracts and served as an Instructor/Facilitator for the Army Emergency Management Training Program in support of the Installation Management Command and Headquarters Department of the Army.
David is the owner of EJB Solutions-LLC. He spends a lot of his time as a Volunteer for the South Carolina Department of Veterans Affairs and the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve.
David married the former Ann Marie Goldsmith in 1994, and they have three adult children: Emily, Jacob and Brady. He and Ann Marie reside in Prosperity.
