Admissions Counselor, Undergraduate

Description

The admissions counselor is responsible for upholding the mission of Columbia International University and recruiting for 51СʪÃÃ’s residential undergraduate programs. The counselor serves a critical role in ensuring that new students and families are educated throughout the enrollment process regarding academic programs and their specific outcomes, financial aid, the student experience, and the value of a Christian higher education.

Responsibilities

  • Advise prospective students of the admission process and steps to enrolling, ensuring each interaction is personalized to their specific interest and needs.
  • Create tailored communication strategies with prospective students to build relationships through email, phone calls, text messages, and personalized notes.
  • Assist in the identification of new target markets while creating and implementing innovative recruitment strategies with new/potential students based on market data.
  • Manage and track recruitment leads from various sources; telephone calls, website, contact cards, and referrals, ensuring timely and personalized follow-ups.
  • Meet with prospective students and families on their campus visits to provide customized interactions based on their areas of interest.
  • Attend recruiting and informational events to represent the university, tailoring presentations to address the specific interest of different audiences.
  • Serve as a liaison between the university and high school counselors, offering support and resources to their students.
  • Work interdepartmentally with student support services to maintain and matriculate students.
  • Assist with the development and revision of office policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, ensuring clarity, empathy, and professionalism in all interactions with students and their families.
  • Able to think and work independently while maintaining a high standard of customer service and responsiveness.
  • Ability to work effectively as a member of a team, contributing to a supportive and collaborative environment.
  • Ability to keep detailed notes within Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system and use technological insights to inform decisions about students.
  • Able to manage multiple tasks and projects and successfully meet deadlines.
  • Ability to travel as assigned, serving as one of the primary university representatives at recruitment events.
  • Flexibility with working hours and occasionally being available on some nights and weekends.
  • Knowledge of 51СʪÃà academic programs, admissions policies and procedures, and general enthusiasm for the University.
  • Experience in admissions, recruiting, or consultative sales preferred.
  • Valid South Carolina driver’s license and clean driving record are required.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
