Accounts Receivable Specialist

TheÌýAccounts ReceivableÌýSpecialist is responsible for accurately processing payments, monitoring student accounts, issuing student bills, providing customer service to students and other departments as needed, and performing a variety of other related tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Assist students and parents with questions pertaining to the student account while staying in compliance with FERPA (Federal Educational Rights Privacy Act).
  • Maintain a good working relationship with financial aid, registrar, and student life to better assist students with questions and concerns.
  • Monitor student accounts for payments, refunds, and collections.
  • Provide front line customer service.
  • Perform student account collection activities including email and phone follow-up.
  • Assist with orientation/check-in process and 51СʪÃà move-in days for all new and returning students.
  • Receive, verify, and receipt departmental income.
  • Disburse and audit annual/short term petty cash to 51СʪÃà and Ben Lippen departments; reconcile annual petty cash at fiscal year-end.
  • Monitor accounting department mailbox and answer all applicable emails within 24 hours.
  • Close daily activity including balancing cash to general ledger, preparing remote bank deposit, reconciling daily journals from student payment portal, and posting daily activity.

Qualifications

  • General knowledge of accounting procedures.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • Customer service and/or accounting experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Knowledge of Jenzabar One helpful.
  • Ability to learn Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.
  • Minimum of High School Diploma.
  • Associates Degree in Accounting or related degree preferred.
